ACCOSCA Background

ACCOSCA is a Pan African confederation of national associations of savings and credit cooperatives societies established in 1968. The organization was revitalized in 2009 having been defunct from 1999.

The General Assembly which currently comprises of twenty-eight countries is the highest organ of the organization. Currently, ACCOSCA has developed programs aimed at empowering and promoting cooperatives in Africa and is collaborating with various government bodies, development agencies and research institution in her service delivery to promote financial inclusion in Africa. Overall ACCOSCA aims at: Promoting the establishment of an institutional framework for mobilizing personal saving and credit cooperatives, Capacity Building, Technical Assistance, Information exchange and Research on topical issues and address them amicably. ACCOSCA is instituting change in her organisation that is guided by the current strategic plan which is a five year plan from 2021 -2026 with a view of strengthening institutional structure and operations.

Main Purpose of The Job

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the project manager, the project assistant will offer administrative support to the project management team and contribute to the effective delivery of various project portfolios.

Job Objective: Responsibilities of Project Assistant

Specific responsibilities: The project assistant will undertake specific tasks on identified projects including:

  • Completing relevant project documentation, e.g., Event and training reports.
  • Updating project schedules using Microsoft Project.
  • Participating in project definition workshops.
  • May be required under the guidance of program manager to conduct end user project related trainings.
  • Actively participate in mobilization, coordination and planning for workshops and program events.
  • Creating and updating Excel spreadsheets as requested.
  • Logging and tracking all Project Plans and project documentation.
  • Coordinating the consultation process with all stakeholders ensuring an accurate and secure audit trail of documents and key decisions.
  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of materials and stationery required for events.
  • Arrange contracts, raise expenditure authorization forms for approval.
  • Follow up invoices to ensure accurate and timely payments.
  • Employ collection techniques for outstanding debtors.
  • Take minutes during and file appropriately.
  • Liaise with suppliers to deliver within stipulated SLAs and timely payments by finance.
  • Respond to telephone enquiries and convey accurate information promptly and appropriately.

Background Requirements

Education: Formal Qualifications

Essential: Diploma in Project Management or Business Administration or recognized equivalent.

Desirable: Basic accounting skills would be an added advantage.
