ACCOSCA is a Pan-African confederation of national associations of savings and credit cooperatives societies. ACCOSCA opened its doors in 1968 and is currently being governed by domicile laws and the ACCOSCA constitution. It enjoys a goodwill gesture from its members and other stakeholders that are keen on making Africa a better place to live. The General Assembly which currently comprises of twenty seven countries is the highest organ of the organization. The General Assembly is held annually and is rotated within the region. It ensures that the activities of ACCOSCA remain relevant in meeting the challenges faced by Africa.
Application for membership shall be submitted to the executive secretary and shall be signed by the president or chairperson and by secretary of the registered national association or promotion committee.
The application shall be accompanied by:
- Country’s law/ decree under which the organization is registered.
- National Association/ promotion committee by- laws or rules
- Copy of the resolution to join the confederation passed by the General Meeting of the organization.
- A membership fee shall accompany the application form.

ACCOSCA has developed programs aimed at improving socio-economic needs of Africa through saving and credit unions, partnering with various government bodies, development agencies and research institution so as to contribute towards mitigating challenges facing Africa in the twenty-first century aimed at effectively supporting members, working on bringing services to the people not generally served by the formal sector.

Training and Education
ACCOSCA is investing in training needs of Boards and Management staff of SACCO’s across Africa for the next five years (2009-2014). The implementation of five years strategic plan aimed at revitalizing co-operative activities hinges on competent and well trained Board and Management Staff within ACCOSCA and National Umbrella bodies.
Research and Business Development
The research and business development department engages with partnering organization to ensure that policy formulation is robustly developed; an elaborate regional research that caters for regional needs. It is through this that the association effectively contributes towards regional social-economic development of which has a positive impact on members of SACCOs.
Social Economic Products
ACCOSCA develops products through Partnerships that are geared towards improving livelihood of Africans. The development of these products is guided by ACCOSCA’s vision and mission.The projects are only developed after a conclusive research that identifies cross cutting needs in done.The activities listed above are influenced primarily by research conducted in collaboration with a consultancy firm.
